Your Rights

All tenants know that they have to pay the rent – but many do not realise that landlords have to repair their homes. If a landlord knows that repairs are needed, but does not carry them out, they can be forced to do the repairs – by Court Order if necessary.

There are other difficulties, which tenants sometimes face, such as threats of eviction. Don’t be bullied - a landlord can only evict a tenant with a Court Order. If your landlord tries to evict you without a Court Order, or does anything to spoil enjoyment of your home, then your Solicitor can seek a Court Order to prevent him from interfering with your rights in the home.
